DSC01114Text Box: SUMMARY

As part of its renewable energy evaluation contract with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, ADI provided a feasibility study to determine if the site could reduce its energy usage and reduce its carbon foot print. ADI evaluated all potential energy conservation measures as well as renewable energy measures such as biomass energy options, wind resources and solar energy production.  This site has the unique attribute of being isolated from the electrical grid.  The implied electric rate is $0.65/kWh.

ADI has developed a model to estimate future energy consumption and costs based upon renovations to the mine storage and generator buildings, as well as the addition of a new maintenance facility.

Using the information from the model, ADI developed three options for lowering energy consumption and costs, and have estimated the potential for utilizing renewable energy sources to provide a portion of the energy consumption after the proposed renovations to the facilities.
